Live 4 Metal was originally launched in April 2001, over at Live4Metal.com. The site ran for over 8 and a half years, until it closed in November 2009, mainly due to the fact that the site had grown to a size that was no longer manageable.

After a 3 month break, the new smaller (and easier to manage) version of Live 4 Metal was launched here at the new .org domain. The original intention was to update the site once a month, but the format didn't really work with my schedule, so from now on, the site will be published about 3 or 4 times a week, normally between Tuesday and Friday

New Reviews Policy - March 2010

Things got a little crazy over at the old site and some months we ended up covering over a 130 cds in a 4 week period. This time around, we are going to have a monthly cap on reviews at about 40 cds a month. But this will vary slightly depending on the time of year.

And will all labels, bands and PR's note, this site is not just about reviews. Interviews and features are just as important to us, so please don't offer us a dozen new releases at a time as your email will be ignored.

With this in mind, and because we have a smaller team, this is the music we are covering on the site.

We'll gladly cover the following:
Black, Death, Doom, Thrash, Grind, Viking/Pagan, Gothic, Power, Dark Ambient, Industrial, Progressive, Stoner... and of course Traditional Heavy Metal.

We won't cover the following:
Hardcore, (most styles ending in Core) Post Metal, Nu-Metal, Emo, most forms of Modern Metal, Pop Punk.

And please keep it current:

We try and review new releases around the actual release date and if is cd is more than 3 months old for major release and 4 or 5 months for smaller releases, we may not cover your cd.

Downloads:
We work with a number of larger labels that use the ipool or equivalent system. We can only download so many albums per month, so preference will go to the labels and PR's that service us with review material on a regular basis.
Please note that we do not review albums via online streaming sites such as MySpace.
